

Branch meetings are held on the 3rd Friday of each month (except for the 2nd Friday in December) at
Callow End Village Hall, Upton Road, Callow End (
'How To Find Us'). Meetings commence at 7.30 pm and last until 10.00 pm approx. A donation to branch funds is requested (suggested amount £3). Refreshments are served during a mid-session interval. Non-WFA members are always welcome.
July 18th - 'The Herefords in the Great War' & 'Gallipoli'This is a special 2-speaker meeting to be held at the T.A Centre in Hereford , commencing at 2.30 pm.
Lt/Col (ret'd) Andy Taylor is a leading authority on the Great War history of the Herefordshire Regiment and recalls their deeds during the conflict, which included service at Gallipoli.
Peter Hart, the Sound Archivist at the Imperial War Museum, has a particular interest in the 1915 Gallipoli expedition. His talk tells the story of that disastrous British campaign.

August - No Meeting
September 18th - 'Revolving Door or Sickle Cut?'Chris Baker, webmaster of the 'Long, Long Trail', compares the German Army's 1914 offensive with two other of its major attacks against France. The first, codenamed 'Revolving Door', opened the 1870 Franco-Prussian War, and the second, subsequently nicknamed 'Sickle Cut', was the WW2 assault of 1940.
October 16th - 'The Worcestershire Regiment in Italy during the Great War'Major John Cotterill MBE is a serving officer with the 2nd Batt. The Mercian Regiment (Worcesters & Foresters), a member of the Guild of Battlefield Guides and has guided all of our branch's tours to the Western Front. His talk follows the fortunes of the 1/7th and 1/8th Territorial battalions of the Worcestershire Regiment, from their postings to the Italian Front in 1917 through to the end of the war.
November 20th - 'Daring Deeds of the Dardanelles'Clive Harris is a former Press and Public Relations Officer for the WFA who, with business partner Julian Whippy, now organises battlefield tours with Battle Honours Ltd. The ultimately unsuccessful Gallipoli campaign of 1915 saw many acts of unselfish courage from British and Anzac soldiers. Clive tells of some of these men and the bravery they showed.
Dec 18th - Speaker and Christmas Social - Details To Be Announced
The Branch has been invited to organise a display stand at a WW1 day in Leominster on Saturday, July 18th. The event is in aid of the Leominster Priory Renovation Fund and the Guest Speaker is the renowned author Richard van Emden. If you wish to assist, or require further details, please see any of the Committee. Please note; the date is the same as the Hereford T.A.Centre special meeting.
